All individuals seeking to apply for funding under the Historical Archive Program must first submit a Preliminary Inquiry to determine their eligibility.
Preliminary inquiries should be no more than two pages in length and include the following information:
- a brief biographical sketch of the individual in question, outlining their academic history and contributions to the discipline;
- a general description of the size and contents of the research collection;
- an overview of actions to be taken to prepare these materials for archival deposit;
- the name of the repository where materials are to be deposited.
Preliminary inquiries should be emailed to the Historical Archives Program administrator or email@example.com.
HAP funding for archival deposits is strictly limited to covering basic preparation (i.e. arrangement, description, preservation and transportation) of materials for archival deposit and does not cover efforts to digitize or in other ways enhance existing collections.
If the project is deemed eligible for HAP consideration, as well as competitive with other inquiries, official application materials will be sent.
