Dr. Kimberly Theidon (Harvard) was awarded a Dissertation Fieldwork Grant (1998), a Post-Phd Research Grant (2004), and a Hunt Postdoctoral Fellowship (2006) to support her research projects on trauma, sexual violence, memory, and transitional justice and reconciliation in Peru.

The 2010 Oscar contender for Best Foreign Film, The Milk of Sorrow (La Teta Asustada), directed by Claudia Llosa, is inspired by the ethnographic research and testimonials contained in Dr. Theidon's first book documenting women and their experience of sexual violence in the Andean highlands in the 1980s.
