The Foundation is proud to announce that Dr. Leslie Aiello, president of the Wenner-Gren Foundation, was awarded the 2006 Huxley Memorial Medal. This award is the highest honor at the disposal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, in the United Kingdom. Dr. Aiello gave The Huxley Memorial Lecture, entitled "Diet, Energy and Human Evolution" at the British Museum in London, UK on December 7th, 2006.

The Foundation is hosting a wine and cheese reception at the AAA meeting. You are invited to attend and hear the latest on recent developments at the Foundation and meet with the president, Dr. Leslie C. Aiello and other Foundation staff.

Other Foundation events at the November AAA meetings are a book launch for the latest publications from the Wenner-Gren International Symposium series, a Presidential Panel on Human Sociality and the Four Fields, and a workshop focusing on the Foundation programs and grant writing.

The latest book to be published through the Wenner-Gren International Symposium Series (with Berg Publishers) is "Sensible Objects: Colonialism, Museums and Material Culture", edited by Elizabeth Edwards, Chris Gosden and Ruth B. Phillips.

This volume follows on from the recently published "World Anthropologies: Disciplinary Transformations in Systems of Power", edited by Gustavo Lins Ribeiro and Arturo Escobar.
