Severin Fowles is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Barnard College, Columbia University. He has conducted archaeological research in the American Southwest for twenty years, focused on the pre-colonial histories of Pueblo communities as well as the military expansion of Plains equestrian societies during the 17th and 18th centuries. He is the author of An Archaeology of Doings: Secularism and the Study of Pueblo Religion (2013) and co-editor of The Oxford Handbook of Southwest Archaeology (with Barbara Mills, 2017).
