With a commitment toward sustained leadership in defining the practice of anthropology, the Wenner-Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research has named respected anthropologist Danilyn Rutherford as its next president.

The Wenner-Gren Foundation has three major goals – to support significant and innovative anthropological research into humanity's biological and cultural origins, development and variation, to foster the creation of an international community of research scholars in anthropology, and to provide leadership at the forefronts of the discipline.

A brief overview of the current Wenner-Gren President's background, research interests, and personal initiatives in guiding the Foundation.

Wenner-Gren Foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees. It also has an academic Advisory Council consisting of seven members, all anthropologists representing the different subfields, whose term of service is four years.
